not much

I learned a new word last week as I was studying a new topic. Been working the word over in my head, practicing the pronunciation for all these days. I have lots of hovering thoughts. One more piece and I may have a revelation to alter how I live. On the verge. On the verge. Not only a revelation, but perhaps an idea about a shadow of the spiritual being cast in the area of genetics. On the verge.
For tonight, for the record, I will let you know that I love when self-motivation leads me to study things that I've never known about before. I don't often study one thing with enthusiasm, but I love knowing a little about a lot of things.
I also often forget what I learned. Maybe I should work on that. Retaining information. But if I forget, then I can always discover it again. When that happens, I have a strange deja vu feeling. I'll be with my husband or a friend and I'll hear myself say, "Oh yeah...I remember reading about that. Something about...hmmm...maybe....no never mind. I don't know."
Want to know what the word is that I learned? Altruistic. Altruism. From the Latin "alter" meaning "other". I think. If I retained correctly.
I for sure remember that it means "selfless". Offering one's well-being for the sake of another. Good word to have bouncing around my head, eh?
